Carte grise on a LOA / LLD lease 2026: lessor mandate, address and end of contract

Carte grise on a LOA / LLD lease 2026: lessor mandate, address and end of contract

On a LOA (lease with purchase option) or LLD (long-term rental), the SIV keeper shown in field C.1 on the carte grise is almost always the finance company (lessor), not the driver. In 2026, moving house, replacing a lost title or buying the vehicle out without the lessor’s mandate leads to rejection. This guide separates leasing from a classic loan, covers address / duplicate / end of contract, and points you to other procedures, change of address (when you are the keeper) or change of ownership after a buyout.

Already hold the lessor’s mandate? Describe the case via other procedures or contact (accreditation No. 188573).

Leasing, LOA, LLD: what does this cover?

A lease puts the vehicle in the lessor’s name. You are the lessee: you use the car and pay the rentals, but you do not transfer the title like an owner. The most common reasons:

  • Lessee change of address — update the domicile on the certificate, with the lessor’s mandate.
  • Duplicate (loss, theft, damage) — often started or authorised by the lessor.
  • End of contract / buyout — the title finally moves into your name via a transfer.
  • Change of lessee (lease assignment) — lessor papers plus the new driver’s identity.

It is not a classic loan where C.1 is already in your name. It is not a simple keeper change of address. It is also not the Cerfa 13757 mandate alone (authorising a professional): the lessor mandate is a separate document issued by the finance company.

Do not confuse

  • Leasing / LOA / LLD — C.1 = lessor; every request needs their written authorisation.
  • Classic loan — C.1 = you; standard address / duplicate / transfer paths.
  • Cerfa 13757 mandate — you authorise Office Carte Grise to transmit; it does not replace the lessor mandate.
  • Other procedures 2026 — overview (divorce, company name, corrections, plate cloning) alongside this lease guide.

Mandate received by e-mail or post? File via other procedures or describe the contract (LOA / LLD, reason) on contact to avoid a rejected consumer address path.

The lessor’s mandate: the key document

  • Who issues it? The finance company / lessor shown in C.1.
  • What must it authorise? The exact reason (lessee address change, duplicate, end-of-contract transfer, etc.).
  • Form? Nominative letter or PDF, recent date, stamp / signature, contract and vehicle references (plate, VIN).
  • In parallel if you use an accredited pro: application Cerfa and Cerfa 13757 — forms on CERFA forms or via the document generator (leasing / lessee address reason).

Without the lessor mandate, even a perfect personal file (ID, address, licence, insurance) is rejected. Ask for it before scanning the rest.

Have my lessor mandate checked

Change of address on a lease: why the standard path fails

The change of address path assumes you are the keeper. On a lease, C.1 is the lessor. Filing “as a private keeper” produces a rejection or an inconsistent file. The one-month deadline after moving still applies: settle it here with the mandate via the other procedures hub. Moving guide (keeper in your name): change of address carte grise 2026.

End of contract: return or buyout

OutcomeEffect on the carte griseUseful next step
Return (often LLD)The lessor keeps / manages the titleNo transfer into your name
Buyout / purchase option (often LOA)Keeper moves from lessor to youChange of ownership
Immediate resale after buyoutTransfer then sale declarationBuyer + code / Cerfa 15776

Keep the end-of-contract attestation, buyout invoice and lessor release. Without them, SIV cannot switch ownership.

On the agency’s role: What is the ANTS (France Titres)?

Cost and timelines (ballpark)

The budget combines title taxes (often limited for an address update; Y1 scale at buyout) and the handling fee. Leasing / company-name / correction cases are usually quoted after papers — see the tables on other procedures. Timing depends mainly on how long the lessor takes to issue the mandate, then SIV processing.

FAQ — carte grise leasing LOA / LLD 2026

Am I the keeper on the carte grise under LOA or LLD?

Usually no: the lessor appears in C.1. Check your certificate. If C.1 is in your name, it is not a lease in the SIV sense (often a classic loan).

Can I change address without the lessor’s mandate?

No. The keeper change of address path is not enough. Get the mandate first, then file via other procedures.

Does Cerfa 13757 replace the lessor mandate?

No. 13757 authorises a professional to transmit. The lessor mandate proves the finance company allows the formality. Both often coexist.

What at the end of my LOA if I buy the vehicle?

Put the title in your name via a change of ownership with the lessor’s release / transfer papers. Simulate taxes on the registration cost calculator.

Where is the overview of atypical files?

On other procedures and the article other procedures 2026. For forms: CERFA forms.

Where do I start online?

Office Carte Grise, accredited by the Ministry of the Interior (No. 188573), reads the lessor’s mandate, separates lessee and keeper, then builds the file. Handle your leased carte grise or contact the team with your contract and mandate.
