Change of address on your French registration certificate

If you move house in France, you must update the address shown on your registration certificate (carte grise). You can do this entirely online through an approved professional such as officecartegrise.fr, or directly on the government ANTS website.

You have one month from the date of your move to update the address on your carte grise.

Document checklist

Your current carte grise
The holder's valid photo ID: national ID card, passport or residence permit
Proof of address less than 6 months old (if there are co-owners, provide the proof of address of the person whose address will appear on the carte grise)

At the end of the procedure, you receive:

An address sticker to place on your carte grise (for your 1st, 2nd or 3rd change of address)
Or a brand-new carte grise with the updated address (from the 4th change onwards)

Only the service fee is charged online — no registration taxes apply to a change of address.

Your sticker or new carte grise is delivered by secure post, usually within 4 to 7 business days.
