Temporary WW registration

You own or have just bought a foreign vehicle and want to drive it while you wait for its definitive French registration: we can issue you a temporary French registration number in the format WW-123-XX.

This provisional certificate is valid for 4 months and cannot be renewed. With it, you can drive fully legally and easily obtain an insurance certificate in France.

Everything you need to know about the temporary WW registration

Document checklist

  • The complete foreign registration certificate
  • Valid photo ID
  • Proof of address less than 6 months old
  • Proof of purchase: a transfer declaration (if bought from a private individual) or an invoice (if bought from a company)
  • Authorisation mandate (Cerfa form 13757*03) (Download CERFA form 13757*03)
  • Registration certificate application (Cerfa form 13750*05) (Download CERFA form 13750*05)
  • Valid driving licence

If you are hosted by a third party

  • A signed accommodation certificate from your host
  • Your host's proof of address

If there is a co-owner

  • The co-owner's photo ID

At the end of the procedure, you receive:

  • Provisional WW registration certificate (valid 4 months, non-renewable)

Price: €11 for the registration certificate + €30 service fee, i.e. €41 incl. VAT in total.

The temporary WW registration lets you drive legally and take out insurance in France.
