FFVE certificate fees increase on 1 October 2026

FFVE certificate fees increase on 1 October 2026

On 1 October 2026 the Fédération Française des Véhicules d’Époque (FFVE) raised the price of its certificate and Collection badge. Fees that had been unchanged for more than ten years are now inclusive of VAT: the federation is subject to 20% VAT. An online file with a French registration certificate goes from €60 to €75 incl. VAT, a moped from €30 to €36 incl. VAT, and paper files, vehicles without a French title or imports to €90 incl. VAT. This guide dates the grid, what does not change (age, photos, collection mention) and how to continue with classic vehicle registration.

French vehicle over 30 years old? Order the FFVE certificate or classic registration with Office Carte Grise (accreditation No. 188573). The photo file is still in the step-by-step guide.

What changes on 1 October 2026

The FFVE announced it on its own site: online applications, work on low-emission zones and tighter checks on fraudulent files come with a new price list. Two separate moves:

  • 20% VAT on the services concerned (certificate and badge). Membership fees for an association or a professional stay VAT-exempt.
  • A dedicated fee for complex files, at €90 incl. VAT: longer review and stronger checks (paper files other than mopeds, no French registration certificate, imports).

Any order placed before 30 September 2026 was billed without VAT, at the rate then in force. From 1 October the VAT-inclusive grid applies, whether you file alone or through an accredited professional. A VAT-registered business recovers the tax under the usual accounting rules.

Do not confuse

  • FFVE certificate — the federation’s document. It is not the carte grise.
  • “Véhicule de collection” mention — added afterwards on the registration certificate.
  • Office Carte Grise service fee — support (file, Cerfa forms, transmission), separate from the FFVE fee.
  • Y1 / Y4 / Y5 taxes — fiscal horsepower and fixed title taxes, estimated with the registration cost calculator.

Which fee applies to your vehicle?

Online file with a French registration certificate

This is the most common case: you already hold the title, or you are buying a used vehicle already registered in France. Except for mopeds, the certificate is €75 incl. VAT. Our service fee is extra: €60 incl. VAT for the certificate alone, €100 incl. VAT if we obtain the FFVE as part of classic registration, €40 incl. VAT if you already bring an acceptable certificate.

Moped

The FFVE targets body types CYCL and CL: two or three wheels whose maximum speed by construction does not exceed 45 km/h and whose engine does not exceed 50 cm³ (a bodied three-wheeler for type CYCL). Above 45 km/h, a two-wheeler is generally type MTL and the standard fee. The moped fee, online or on paper, is €36 incl. VAT. A roadworthiness test is still required when the category is subject to one.

Paper file, no French registration certificate, or import

The federation charges €90 incl. VAT when the file needs a longer review: paper submission other than a moped, a vehicle with no French registration certificate, or an import (EU, non-EU, United Kingdom). The certificate often stands in for conformity where a manufacturer COC no longer exists. Also plan a tax clearance (quitus) (EU) or form 846A (non-EU / UK), and possibly temporary WW plates.

French title already in hand? Start classic registration. Importing a classic? Use foreign vehicle registration and write to us via contact if the file is on paper or has no French registration certificate (FFVE fee €90 incl. VAT).

What this changes for a classic carte grise

The increase does not change the conditions: over 30 years old, model no longer in production, vehicle not substantially altered, non-professional use, roadworthiness test when the category requires one. It changes the budget before the title taxes.

SituationFFVE certificateThen
Already the keeper, online file€75 incl. VATCollection mention — taxes often about €13.76 + service fee
Used purchase in France€75 incl. VATTransfer + change of ownership with the mention — Y1 by region
Moped€36 incl. VATSame logic, licence matched to the category
Import / paper / no French title€90 incl. VATRegistration + quitus or 846A

Example — already the keeper, car, online file. €75 FFVE + €13.76 taxes + €100 service fee if we obtain the certificate ≈ €189. If you already have the certificate: €13.76 + €40 service fee ≈ €54, without paying the federation again.

Example — purchase in France. On top of the €75 FFVE fee and the service fee comes the regional tax for a vehicle over 10 years old. Estimate it with the registration cost calculator. The combined path is described in used purchase and classic registration.

What does not change

  • The certificate is not a registration certificate.
  • Photos and the questionnaire remain the main cause of delay — see the step-by-step guide.
  • Collection status is not a nationwide Crit’Air pass. Low-emission zones stay local.
  • An old certificate (often issued before 2017) may have to be renewed, especially on a change of keeper: it is then issued at the current fee.
  • FFVE membership fees do not follow this service grid.

FAQ — FFVE certificate fees from 1 October 2026

What does an FFVE certificate cost from 1 October 2026?

€75 incl. VAT for an online file other than a moped with a French registration certificate, €36 incl. VAT for a moped (online or on paper), €90 incl. VAT for a paper file other than a moped, a vehicle without a French registration certificate, or an import.

Does an order placed before 30 September stay at the old price?

Yes. The FFVE stated that any order placed before 30 September 2026 was billed without VAT, at the rate then in force (€60, or €30 for a moped). From 1 October the VAT-inclusive grid applies.

Is the Collection badge required for the carte grise?

No. It rises to €18 incl. VAT. The “véhicule de collection” mention on the registration certificate rests on the certificate (or a manufacturer certificate), not on the badge.

Has the Office Carte Grise service fee increased?

No. Support stays at €60 incl. VAT for the certificate alone, €100 incl. VAT when we obtain the FFVE as part of classic registration, and €40 incl. VAT if you already supply an acceptable certificate. It is the federation’s fee that changes.

Does an imported vehicle pay €75?

No. An import file, a vehicle without a French registration certificate, or a paper submission is €90 incl. VAT. Continue with foreign vehicle registration (quitus or 846A depending on origin) and contact us if the case is outside the standard online file.

Where do I start?

The FFVE certificate alone, classic registration if the title must carry the mention, or used purchase and classic registration if you have just bought in France. Questions about an import or a paper file: contact.

Office Carte Grise, accredited by the Ministry of the Interior (No. 188573), builds the FFVE file and, if you wish, has the collection mention added to the carte grise. Order the certificate or start classic registration.
