Other carte grise procedures

This page orients registration files that are not a used-car purchase, not a simple keeper address change, not a duplicate title, and not an import. Office Carte Grise, an authorised professional, sorts the case, lists the papers, then tells you how to file. There is no single funnel: to start, write to us.

Divorce, death, leasing, Kbis, correction, plate cloning, licence. No single funnel. Co-holder: €2.76 + €40. Otherwise a full carte grise + €30.

Other vehicle-registration procedures — orientation and contact, Office Carte Grise

Step 1/3

Identify your case

Divorce, death, leasing, Kbis, correction, plate cloning or licence: pick the family before any filing.

Guide to other carte grise procedures: six file families

What other registration procedures are

Other procedures group less common SIV formalities: divorce, death, leasing, company-name change, error correction, technical modification, plate cloning, and some driving-licence requests.

This is not a catch-all checkout. Each family has its own papers, taxes and often a distinct filing. The page orients; it does not merge six procedures into one order.

Office Carte Grise, authorised by the Ministry of the Interior, then instructs the file you describe. To start the review, contact us.

What this page is not

It is not change of ownership after a French used purchase, not the keeper's change of address, not a duplicate, not an FIV, not a transfer declaration, not an import, not classic registration.

A mis-routed file is the first reason for rejection. If your case is a sale, a keeper move or a lost title, use the matching flagship page.

When to use the hub rather than a standard flow

Use this hub as soon as the reason is not a classic mutation, a simple address change, a duplicate or a standard import / classic file.

Typical examples: a divorce judgment awarding the vehicle, an estate, a lessor mandate, a new Kbis, a name or VIN error, an ethanol conversion, cloned plates, a foreign-licence exchange.

If you hesitate between two pages, describe the facts (current keeper, papers already in hand, deadline) and contact us. A correct orientation beats a refused filing.

Orientation table: six file families

Six families cover most atypical requests. Title tax changes with the case: sometimes a €2.76 stamp, sometimes a full carte grise.

Divorce: co-holder and awarding judgment

After a divorce, the registration certificate must show who holds the vehicle. If you are already a co-holder and the judgment awards it to you, the file is not a sale to a third party.

In that planned case, the title can be limited to €2.76 routing fee, plus a €40 service fee. Attach the judgment (or approved agreement), identity, address and the current certificate.

Without a clear awarding clause, the SIV cannot decide. Have the document checked before filing.

Divorce without co-holding: ordinary transfer

If you are not a co-holder, putting the vehicle in your name is treated as a classic change of keeper: a full carte grise, plus a typical €30 service fee.

Papers then look like a mutation (identity, address, transfer or award, roadworthiness if required). Do not force the €2.76 flat fee: it will be refused.

The change-of-ownership page remains the right flow if the divorce looks like a sale or gift between former spouses without prior co-holding.

Death: keeping the vehicle

To keep the vehicle, it must be put in your name. Under community of property, plan the death certificate, a copy of the family record book stating the regime, photo ID, driving licence, proof of address and certificate of insurance.

When the flat-fee conditions are met, the title costs €2.76 plus €40 service. Heirs or a notary may require extra papers (devolution statement, co-heir agreement).

A vehicle left in the deceased's name blocks resale, insurance and some checks. Do not delay once the acts are available.

Death: selling within three months

Within three months of the death, you can often sell by giving the buyer the death certificate and a copy of the family record book, with the certificate and the transfer Cerfa.

The buyer then files change of ownership. You, the seller, declare the transfer within 15 days to protect yourself from later fines.

The three-month window does not erase other duties (insurance, parking, MOT). Record the date of death and the date the vehicle was handed over.

Death: selling after the three-month window

Past that deadline, first put the title in your name. Once you have the certificate, you sell when you wish, via an ordinary transfer declaration.

In the planned case, that intermediate step costs €2.76 plus €40 service. Without matrimonial-regime or inheritance papers, the file stays blocked.

Do not improvise a sale « on the deceased's papers » out of time: the buyer will not be able to register.

Papers for a change of marital status

Usual core: current certificate, identity, proof of address less than six months old, Cerfa 13750, Cerfa 13757 if you use an authorised professional.

Link papers: divorce judgment or agreement, death certificate, family record book, sometimes a marriage or PACS act if the reason is adding a co-holder. Marriage / PACS detail lives on the marital-status FAQ; here we mainly treat divorce and death.

A cropped scan or a judgment without the awarding page is enough to reject the filing. Show all four corners, no flash.

Cost €2.76 plus €40 service, or a full carte grise

Two scales recur in the divorce / death files published on this site. They do not apply to leasing, correction or plate cloning without a review.

Leasing, LOA and LLD: the keeper remains the lessor

On a lease, the SIV keeper is often the finance company, not the driver. You are the lessee: you cannot mutate the title as an owner would.

Any request (address, sometimes a duplicate) needs a lessor mandate. Without that mandate, the filing is refused, even if your personal papers are perfect.

Do not confuse this with a classic credit purchase where the keeper is already in your name. Check field C.1 on the certificate.

Lessor mandate for a change of address

If you move with a leased vehicle, the lessee address change is not the standard keeper address flow.

You need a mandate from the leasing company authorising you to make the change. Ask the lessor for it before you scan anything.

Once you have the mandate, describe the case: contact us. The public change-of-address flow does not accept a lessee without that document.

Why the standard address flow is not enough on a lease

The « keeper » address change assumes C.1 is in your name. On a lease, C.1 is the lessor. Filing as a private individual produces a rejection or an incoherent file.

The SIV sticker, the one-month deadline and a possible fine remain address topics. They are settled here via the mandate, not via an address encyclopedia.

If the LLD / LOA ends and you buy the vehicle, the reason becomes a mutation: then use change of ownership, with the lessor's papers.

Company-name change and Kbis

When the company changes its legal name without selling the vehicle, a recent Kbis proves the change. We update the certificate; we do not recalculate a sale.

Attach the manager's or agent's identity, Cerfa 13757 mandate, current certificate and a readable Kbis (old and new names visible).

Letterhead or an invoice does not replace the Kbis. An extract that is too old is often refused.

Company name versus a sale or a mutation

If the company sells the vehicle, that is a transfer then change of ownership on the buyer's side. If it absorbs another company, merger / contribution papers are added.

A company-name change is not a W garage, nor a professional purchase declaration. Those trade flows already exist online; this hub does not replace them.

If in doubt (holding, secondary establishment, trading name distinct from the legal name), send the Kbis: contact us.

Correcting a material error on the certificate

A wrong name, model, serial number or seat count is neither a duplicate nor a technical modification. We correct a mention that was already false at issue.

Correcting a material error is in principle without regional Y.1 tax. An agency fee applies if you use an authorised professional. The exact amount is confirmed before filing.

Without proof (ID for a name, COC or MOT report for a technical field), the administration refuses. Do not wait for a sale to correct: the buyer will stall.

Evidence to support a correction

Name: valid photo ID, sometimes a civil-status act. VIN or characteristics: certificate of conformity, manufacturer document, roadworthiness report.

Cerfa 13750 carries the request; Cerfa 13757 mandates the professional. Keep the current title even if it is wrong: it identifies the copy to correct.

Detailed questions (delay, blocked sale, fee waiver) live on the error-correction FAQ. Here we place the reason in the hub.

Technical modification: restrictor, seats, ethanol

Restricting or derestricting a two-wheeler, converting 2 seats to 5, ethanol conversion: these are characteristics to record, not typos.

You need the certificate of the approved professional who carried out or homologated the work. Without it, the SIV will not record the change.

Driving a vehicle that does not match the certificate risks a fine and an insurance refusal. The technical-modification FAQ details ethanol, bodywork and risks; this hub classifies the file.

Certificate from the approved professional

The certificate must identify the vehicle (plate, VIN), the nature of the work and the approved workshop. A quote or a dashboard photo is not enough.

Depending on the change, an individual type approval or a document from an authorised body may be added. We list papers after reading the certificate.

Do not start with a duplicate « just to see »: a duplicate re-issues the title as it is, without correcting a characteristic.

Correction, modification, duplicate and plate cloning

Four reasons sound alike in everyday language and diverge in the SIV. Picking the wrong one costs weeks.

ReasonWhat changesRegistration numberPage
Error correctionA mention already falseUnchangedThis page / correction FAQ
Technical modificationThe vehicle's real characteristicUnchangedThis page / technical FAQ
DuplicateCopy of the title, same keeperUnchanged (except FNI)Duplicate carte grise
Plate cloningNew number to break the cloneNewThis page / cloning FAQ

Plate cloning: a new number

If you receive fines or police stops for facts you did not commit, someone is probably using a copy of your plates. Cloning is not a duplicate: a duplicate keeps the same number.

After proof, a new registration number can be requested to make the fake plates useless. You then have plates made to the new issue.

Act from the first suspicious tickets. A duplicate « just in case » does not stop the clone.

Complaint, challenging tickets and new plates

File a complaint (or follow police guidance). Keep the notices, vehicle photos, proof you were elsewhere.

Challenge the fines within the deadlines, with the complaint. A payment can be read as an admission. Procedural detail is on the plate-cloning FAQ.

For the SIV filing of the new number: contact us with the complaint and the current certificate. This is not the duplicate funnel.

Driving licence: five possible requests

Office Carte Grise can also help with some licence formalities, distinct from the registration certificate.

  • First issue after passing the test
  • Licence duplicate (loss, theft or damage)
  • New title after a suspension
  • Renewal at expiry
  • Exchange of a foreign licence for a French one

Licence and registration certificate stay distinct

A licence duplicate does not replace a carte grise duplicate. A foreign-licence exchange does not regularise a vehicle import.

Papers, taxes and delays differ. State clearly whether you mean the driver's title or the vehicle's title.

For a licence, as for atypical SIV files: contact us. There is no single « other procedures » checkout.

W garage and purchase declaration already online

Traders already have flows: W garage request or renewal, professional purchase declaration, transfer. This hub does not absorb them.

If you need removable test plates or a stock-entry receipt, use those pages. Come back here for a Kbis, a lessor mandate or plate cloning.

Mixing W garage with cloning, or a purchase declaration with a divorce, produces unreadable files.

How to build the file and contact us

First identify the family (divorce, death, leasing, Kbis, correction, modification, cloning, licence). List papers already in hand. State the keeper shown in C.1.

Prefer one message with readable attachments over several tickets. Mention the plate, the date of the facts and the urgency (tickets, sale, MOT).

The contact form is the entry point. We reply with the precise list and, where it exists, the online flow already on the site.

Delays, CPI and France Titres

After a complete filing, the calendar follows the usual circuit: instruction, possible provisional certificate, then France Titres printing and postal dispatch.

Atypical files lengthen as soon as a paper is missing (judgment, mandate, Kbis, complaint). Allow more than a simple duplicate if the administration queries.

A CPI is not the definitive title. Keep acknowledgements until the certificate arrives.

Cerfa 13750 and Cerfa 13757 for atypical files

Most certificate updates rely on Cerfa 13750 (application) and Cerfa 13757 (mandate for the professional). They are not the transfer Cerfa nor loss declaration 13754, which belongs to the duplicate.

You can prepare them via CERFA forms or the document generator, then attach them to the contact message or the indicated flow.

An obsolete edition or an unsigned mandate blocks teletransmission. Do not use a PDF found on a forum.

Mistakes that get an atypical file rejected

Judgment without awarding the vehicle. Missing lessor mandate. Kbis too old. Unreadable technical certificate. Missing complaint for cloning. Confusing a duplicate with a new number.

Cropped scans, expired ID, address in a third party's name without a lodging statement: the same traps as on flagship procedures, more serious here because the reason is already fragile.

Re-read C.1, the VIN and the plate before sending. A one-line letter « I want to change my carte grise » cannot be oriented.

Thematic FAQs and the 2026 article

Four satellite FAQs go deep on one reason: marital status, technical modification, error correction, plate cloning. This landing orients between them; it does not copy their questions.

The dated 2026 article tells the year's frame. The orientation file, the published cost tables (€2.76, €40, €30) and contact live here.

For a purchase, a keeper move or a lost title, leave this hub and open the flagship page.

Other registration procedures: frequently asked questions

What is the other-procedures page for?

It orients atypical SIV files: divorce, death, leasing, company name, correction, technical modification, plate cloning, licence. It is not a single checkout and it is not change of ownership, keeper address or a duplicate.

How do I start if I cannot pick a family?

Describe the current keeper (C.1), the reason (judgment, death, lessor, Kbis, error, plates, licence) and the papers already in hand, then contact us. We point to the right page or the list to attach.

Is the €2.76 divorce flat fee automatic?

No. You must be a co-holder and have a judgment (or equivalent) awarding you the vehicle. Otherwise the file is a full carte grise, with a typical €30 service fee.

What if I sell a deceased person's vehicle after the deadline?

Past three months, first put the title in your name (often €2.76 + €40 in the planned case), then declare the transfer. A direct sale out of time blocks the buyer's registration.

Can a lessee use the public change-of-address flow?

Not without a lessor mandate. On leasing / LOA / LLD the keeper remains the company. The keeper address flow assumes C.1 is in your name.

Is a Kbis enough to change the company name on the title?

A recent Kbis is the central paper, with the agent's identity, current certificate and Cerfa. Letterhead or a trading name is not enough. This is not a sale.

Error correction versus technical modification: what is the difference?

Correction repairs a mention that was already false at issue. Modification records a real change to the vehicle (seats, ethanol, restrictor) with an approved professional's certificate.

Why is plate cloning not a duplicate?

A duplicate re-issues the same number. Cloning aims at a new number to break cloned plates, after a complaint and evidence. A duplicate does not stop the clone.

Do I need a complaint before asking for a new number?

Yes in practice: without an official element, the cloning file and ticket challenges are weak. Attach the complaint to the contact message.

Do you also handle driving licences?

Yes for several reasons: first issue, licence duplicate, title after suspension, renewal, foreign exchange. That is a distinct title from the registration certificate.

Is there a /procedure/autres-demarches/ funnel?

No. There is no single funnel. Entry is contact, then an existing online flow if one exists (address, duplicate, W garage, transfer, and so on).

Which Cerfa should I prepare before writing?

Often Cerfa 13750 and Cerfa 13757. 13754 concerns loss or theft of the certificate (duplicate), not this hub. 15776 concerns the transfer.

Do the €40 and €30 fees apply to every case?

No. €40 goes with the planned €2.76 divorce / death flat fee. €30 goes with a full carte grise without co-holding. Leasing, Kbis, correction, cloning and licence are priced after papers.

Is W garage ordered here?

No. W garage and the professional purchase declaration have their own pages. This hub points to them; it treats special cases (Kbis, lessor, cloning) that have no dedicated funnel.

Does this page replace the divorce, correction or cloning FAQs?

No. Satellite FAQs remain the reference for one reason. Here: orientation between families, published cost tables, and contact to file.

Is the 2026 article enough to file?

No. The article dates the frame. The orientation file and the contact form are on this landing.

What if my case mixes two families?

Example: death plus leasing, or cloning plus a lost title. State both reasons in one message. We prioritise (complaint, mandate, judgment) before any filing.

How long after a contact message?

The delay depends on how readable the papers are. A complete judgment and a clear mandate go faster than a story with no scan. France Titres only prints after an accepted filing.

Published divorce / death prices: €2.76 + €40 service if you are a co-holder (or the planned case); otherwise a full carte grise + €30 service. Other families are quoted after papers.

Entry point: the contact form. There is no single « other procedures » checkout.
