Change of address
When you move, you have 1 month to update the address on your registration certificate.
The procedure differs depending on whether your vehicle’s registration number is in the format AB 123 CD or 123 AB 01.

List of documents required for change of address
When you move, you have 1 month to update the address on your registration certificate.
The procedure differs depending on whether your vehicle’s registration number is in the format AB 123 CD or 123 AB 01.
- If your registration format is type 123 AB 01: you will receive a new registration card with a new registration in the new format, you will then have to change your plates and notify your insurance company of this change. The cost will be 2.76 euro + the service.
- If your format is of the AB-123-CD type: you will receive a self-adhesive label to position on your current registration card, on the dotted lines around your old address. The cost will only be the service. At the 4th change of address, you will receive a new registration card and the cost will increase to 2.76+ service.
If you are checked by the police even though you have not declared your change of address within 1 month, you risk a fine of up to € 750 (in general, a fixed fine of 135 €).
You will receive the final registration card in a secure envelope at your home within a time limit which may vary.
The necessary documents are:
- The vehicle registration document
- Valid proof of identity: identity card, passport or residence permit
- Proof of address of less than 6 months (or, in the case of joint holders, proof of the one whose address will appear on the registration card)
- Mandate(cerfa 13757*03)
- Application for registration certificate(cerfa n°13750*05)
