How the cost is calculated
The price of a carte grise is not a flat fee. It is the sum of several taxes set by law, plus a fixed delivery charge. The calculator applies the official DILA rates, so the estimate reflects what the administration will actually charge.
What makes up the total
- The regional tax (Y1): the biggest item. It equals your vehicle's fiscal horsepower multiplied by the price of the CV set by your region, halved for vehicles over ten years old.
- The CO2 or weight surcharge (Y3): applies to a first registration in France, including an import, when the vehicle exceeds the emission or weight thresholds.
- The management fee (Y4) and the delivery charge (Y5), both fixed.
- Our service fee, shown separately before payment.
Exemptions and reductions
Electric vehicles are exempt from the regional tax in every region. Vehicles over ten years old pay half of it. A change of address, a correction or a duplicate is charged at the fixed fees only, with no regional tax.
The fiscal horsepower and the date of first registration are printed on the current certificate, in boxes P.6 and B.
